Trash and Recycling information for Bow residents

Aluminum: Recycle cans at curbside or drop off at Goodwin Athletic Field can cage for Bow Cub Scouts or at Bow Memorial School for fundraising.

Automotive liquids: Used oil is accepted at Concord Transfer Station and Bow Landscape & Supply. Save antifreeze, brake fluid, etc for HHWD.

Batteries: Standard alkaline batteries go in the regular trash.

Automotive batteries - return for credit with purchase of new battery or take to Bow Auto Salvage on Rte 3A. Lead, Ni-Cad and or Re-chargeable batteries collected at Bow Fire Station/Community Ctr. Or save for HHWD.

Books: Donate to library or drop off at the “ Got Books ” bin at Concord Transfer Station.

Cars & other retired motor vehicles: Make a tax deductible donation to www.Goodnewsgarage.org, 877-GIVE-AUTO or other charities. Donate to a salvage yard.

Cell Phones, pagers, PDAs: Drop off at Bow Elementary & Middle Schools in lobby areas. Funds are used for local school programs.
Christmas trees: A single, undecorated tree will be accepted at Concord Transfer Station or Bow Landscape & Supply, 6 Gordon Rd., 226-0430

Cleaning products: Take to HHWD; see alternatives at www.eartheasy.com/live_nontoxic_solutions.htm.

Clothing: Clean & bagged, place in bins outside Community Center or deliver to Goodwill or Salvation Army centers.

Compost Materials: Produce, egg shells, coffee grounds, nutshells & yard waste can be composted. See www.compostguide.com. Or contribute to Bow Landscape ’ s compost pile (Gordon Rd. 226-0430).

Electronics: TV, computers, monitors, DVD/CD players, printers: Take to Goodwill on Loudon Rd., BestBuy in Concord, or to HHWD (fees may apply). Electronics contain hazardous elements, including mercury.

Eye glasses: Take to vision centers for recycling.

Flammables & Fuels: Take to HHWD.

Fluorescent bulbs/CFLs: Contain Mercury! Keep broken bulbs in a lidded glass jar and save for HHWD. Take unbroken bulbs to Concord Transfer Station, Home Depot or Ace Hardware.

Furniture: Donate or take to Concord Transfer Station (fees apply).

Light bulbs (non-CFL): Regular trash – see fluorescent's above.

Junk mail: Sign-up at www.donotmail.org to reduce unsolicited mail offers; recycle in paper bin each week

Mercury thermometers and other products: Take to Wheelabrator Plant, 11 Whitney Rd, Penacook, 753-8411 to exchange for digital or save for HHWD.

Metal scrap: Bikes, lawn chairs, tools, appliances, windows - donate, sell or take to Concord transfer station (fees apply)

Milk/Juice Containers: Plastic, please recycle jugs (caps go in regular trash); waxed cardboard containers are non recyclable and must go in regular trash.

Motor oil: Accepted year-round at Concord Transfer Station and Bow Landscape & Supply on Gordon Road.

Packing peanuts: Take to UPS store, 26 S. Main St, Concord.

Paints/strippers: Choose natural, water-based, zero VOC paints and non-caustic biodegradable paint strippers. Offer leftovers to clubs and schools or take to town HHWD. Add kitty litter or shredded newspaper to dry latex paints and put out with the regular trash.

Paper Products: newspapers, magazines, cardboard (broken down), junk-mail, pizza boxes (lightly soiled), notepaper etc. can be recycled at curbside.

Pesticides: Take to HHWD; see alternatives at www.pesticide.org.

Pet products: Take to HHWD; choose natural alternatives when possible.

Plastic bags & packaging: Bundle & recycle at local supermarkets. Use re-usable tote bags when shopping.

Plastic containers: All plastics except Styrofoam are now taken with commingled curbside recycling.

Prescription drugs/Medications: DO NOT flush down toilet! Keep in original containers. Add water or oil to pills to dissolve, or kitty litter or newspaper to liquid meds, then put it out with your household trash, which goes to the incinerator.

Printer Cartridges & Toners: Drop off at Bow Elementary & Middle Schools. Funds are used for local school programs.

Sneakers: Donate with other clothing if in good condition, otherwise take to HHWD for recycling into athletic fields & courts.

Tires: Recycle through tire company (fee usually applies) with a new tire purchase or donate to salvage yards.

Toys/Infant products: Deliver larger items directly to children ’ s charities or donate to charities listed on the Recycling Donations page.

Workshop products: Donate if possible, otherwise take to HHWD.

Yard Waste/Brush: Brush up to 4 ft x 5-inch diameter accepted at Allen Road Brush Dump. Take larger brush and tree stumps to Concord Transfer Station.
